2-Hydroxpropyl Acrylate - HPA

CAS#: 999-61-1

Coatings

2-Hydroxypropyl Acrylate HPA is an acrylate monomer and contains reaction sites that can form homopolymers and copolymers. This chemical provides important properties to high performance coatings, adhesives, and personal care products.

2-Hydroxpropyl Methacrylate - HPMA

CAS#: 27813-02-1

Coatings

Hydroxypropyl Methacrylate (HPMA) monomer provides important properties to polymer products including hydrophilicity, improved adhesion to substrates, and crosslinking sites.

Corrosion Inhibitor

Performance Additive

Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP)

CAS#: 68333-79-9

Coatings

A salt of polyphosphoric acid and ammonia, which has various names depending on the company but can be generalized as Ammonium Polyphosphate 484 (APP 484). It has low water solubility and its largest use is as a highly efficient flame retardant. It can also be used as an emulsifier and fertilizer. Used as a flame retardant in paint and coatings and in a variety of polymers -- polyolefins and polypropylene, where APP is part of intumescent systems. Also used in thermosets where APP is used in unsaturated polyesters and gel coats, epoxies, and polyurethane castings (intumescent systems). Also applied to flame retard polyurethane foams.

Flame Retardants

Methacrylic Acid - MAA | Glacial GMAA

CAS#: 79-41-4

Coatings

Most methacrylic acid is used as an intermediate in the production of methacrylic acid esters, especially ethyl and higher methacrylates. These in turn are used as co-monomers to produce a variety of plastic products. MAA can also be used as a comonomer that adds functional properties to latex paint, adhesive, and textile formulations, as well as in reactive adhesives in which methacrylic acid monomer reacts to cure the adhesive, and in solid coatings and specialty polymers.

Monomer

Methyl Methacrylate - MMA

CAS#: 80-62-6

Coatings

MMA Monomer offers advantages as an additive in a wide range of copolymer-based products and is used in molding and extruded resins and extruded sheet (PMMA), in mineral surface composites, and coatings.

Monomer

Pentaerythritol - Penta Supreme 99 - Micronized

CAS#: 115-77-5

Coatings

Penta is a tetrafunctional compound of primary hydroxyl groups. The compact structure and the high density of hydroxyl groups provide outstanding properties. Pentaerythritol is an organic compound with the formula C(CH2OH)4. Classified as a polyol, it is a white solid. Pentaerythritol is a versatile building block for the preparation of many polyfunctionalized compounds. Derivatives of pentaerythritol are components of alkyd resins, varnishes, polyvinyl chloride stabilizers, tall oil esters, and olefin antioxidants. It can be found in transformer oil, plastics, paints, cosmetics, and many other applications.

Alcohol

Sodium Persulfate - NPS

CAS#: 7775-27-1

Coatings

Sodium persulfate is the inorganic compound. It is the sodium salt of persulfate (also called peroxydisulfate), an oxidizer. It is a white solid that dissolves in water. It is used in chemical synthesis as a radical initiator, and is used for accelerated curing of low formaldehyde adhesives.

Persulfate

Trimethylolpropane - TMP

CAS#: 77-99-6

Coatings

Trimethylolpropane (TMP) is a tri-functional alcohol with a wide spectrum of applications in the chemical industry, e.g. for the synthesis of alkyd and polyester resins, synthetic lubricants, PU-foams, and lacquers or glues and adhesives. TMP is also used for the production of dyestuffs, pigments, paints, and silicone products. A chemical compound synthesized from the two-step reaction of butanol and formaldehyde and their product's synthesis with sodium hydroxide, is used to create Ethoxylated and propoxylated Trimethylolpropane (TMP) for the production of polyurethanes. TMP's largest use is as a precursor in the production of alkyd resins which produce coatings, followed by the production of allyl ethers for the production of high-gloss coatings and ion exchange resins. Applications include: Alkyd, polyester, and polyurethane synthesis; Crosslinking of coatings, adhesives and printing inks; TiO2 pigment dispersions; and Synthesis of rad-cure monomers.

Alcohol

2-Ethyl Hexyl Acrylate - 2EHA

CAS#: 103-11-7

Coatings

2-Ethylhexyl acrylate (HA) is the ester of acrylic acid and 2-ethyl hexanol. It is used as a raw material to make adhesives, coatings, construction materials, acrylic rubber, lubricants, and emulsions.
